The Ministry of Education is headed by a Minister. The Ministry is in charge of managing, operating, and promoting an accessible and sus- tainable public education system and administration of performance of chartered schools. The Ministry is also responsible for implementation of education curricula and standards in all public and private kindergar- tens, elementary schools, and high schools in Palau. The Ministry exe- cutes its mandates through the performance of the duties and functions of the following bureaus and divisions.

The Ministry of Education is one of the nine departments of the Execu- tive Branch of the National Government of the Republic of Palau. It is responsible for the education of Palau's children ages 6-17. It imple- ments its strategies and goals through two bureaus, Curriculum and In- struction and School Operations.

Direct services to children are delivered through sixteen public and six private elementary and high schools. The ministry operates the public schools. The private schools are independently operated under charter from the ministry.
