Bureau of Curriculum and Instruction
The Bureau of Curriculum and Instruction is headed by a Director.
The Bureau is responsible for all school curriculum and instruction program planning and implementation, teacher trainings, testing, and administration of all grants pertaining to student academic development.
The Bureau has three divisions:
Division of Curriculum Development and Implementation
Headed by a Chief. The division has the following duties and functions:
- Development and on-going implementation and training of all subject curriculum framework for all schools;
- Identify and implement appropriate alternative instructional programs for all schools annually;
- Review and update course guides as needed;
- Initiation of development of appropriate instructional materials for schools;
- Review and update and implement all alternative academic programs for schools – PHS Career Technical Academies; and
- Performance of other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Division of Instructional Induction, Teacher Professional Development, and Continuing Education
Headed by a Chief. The division has the following duties and functions:
- Provision of professional development and instructional leadership trainings for teachers;
- Conduct delivery of classroom instruction observations in the public schools;
- Implement instructional coaching cycles in the public schools and facilitation of new teacher induction;
- Provide technical support and assistance to teachers;
- Track teacher performance information and maintain teacher development records;
- Identification of teacher training needs;
- Work with human resource development and Division of Curriculum Development and Implementation to register and track professional development and continuing education requirements to support Palau Teacher Certification Program for the ministry; and
- Performance of other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Division of School Testing and Data Collection
Headed by a Chief. The division has the following duties and functions:
- Establish and maintain student testing information;
- Keep track and maintain school information and teacher development records;
- Administration of standardized student performance testing;
- Organize and maintain a data system pertaining to student testing;
- Cooperate with the Division of Instructional Induction and Teacher Professional Development to relay data as needed;
- Conduct training on all student testing in preparation for test administration; and
- Performance of other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
